Best Valentine Day Flowers
Here is a guide to purchasing just the right flowers for Valentine's Day
Sometimes it can be difficult to pick just the right flowers to give for Valentine’s Day. Different flowers are said to have different meanings, and you wouldn’t want to go sending the wrong message, now would you? Also, you need to have a slight idea of a person’s tastes to know whether to send them a big bouquet or a single flower or something in between. This choice can seem daunting at first, but really isn’t that difficult. A good place to get started thinking about the types of flowers to give for Valentine’s Day is to stop and think about the person you’re giving the flowers to. What is their personality like? Are they wild? Romantic? Shy? Personality traits can be matched up to certain flowers. A shy person might like something simple like violets or lily of the valley while a more impetuous person might prefer something like tiger lilies, stargazer lilies or daffodils. Also ask yourself, what is their gender? This might or might not determine the types of flowers you give. Some arrangements are much more feminine and might turn off a male recipient, or vice versa.
A florist is experienced in putting together arrangements for many types of people and will be able to find an arrangement that will suit your recipient. And probably the most important factor in picking flowers, how do you feel about this person? Do you you’re your choice of flowers to send a message of lust, love, friendship or something else entirely? Take all these things into consideration when picking the perfect flowers. The next thing to consider when picking flowers is what exactly does each flower mean? Each plant and flower is said to have its own special significance and meaning. These meanings are not, however, set in stone. Most people know the meaning of more popular flowers like roses and carnations, but those meanings are still flexible. A florist will know what each plant signifies and can help you make your decision, but there are some pretty popular and common choices people make for Valentine’s Day.
Roses are probably the most popular Valentine’s Day gift. Roses of different colors have different meanings. A red rose means love, a white rose signifies worthiness, a yellow rose means friendship and a pink rose means happiness. Like I said before, these meaning are flexible and you can give roses of different colors depending on other factors such as a person’s favorite color. Carnations are another very popular choice for this holiday. Carnations also mean different things based on their color. A red carnation signifies admiration, a striped or yellow carnation is a sign of rejection, a pink carnation means “I won’t forget you”, and any solid colored carnation is said to mean “yes”. Other popular favorites include tulips which mean love, violets which mean faithfulness, calla lilies which mean beauty, daffodils which mean regard, respect and love and orchids which mean love and beauty and are a Chinese symbol of fertility. The availability of some different flowers can vary, so be sure to check with your local florist about which flowers you can order.
